Sogo is a supporting drum which plays a basic pattern with some variations and improvisations as well as responding to the lead drummer's calls. Traditionally, the sogo basic pattern is played with the hands producing a variation of timbres and pitches. A bass drum does an adequate job of recreating this rhythm despite its obvious inequity of finesse.
